Run for Life

Start each school day on the blacktop with Run for Life

Run for Life is a before-school program aimed at improving students' cardiovascular & mental health. Teachers and parent volunteers scan each child's card, one scan for every lap completed, as students run/walk laps around the designated track on the blacktop.
It is NOT a race.
Students may choose to walk or jog as many days a week as they want. Laps are tracked and students are awarded charms based on mileage completed. Upon completion of 75 miles, students receive a gold medal and are recognized at the year-end awards assembly. After completing 100 miles, students receive a t-shirt, and become a member of the Loma Portal "Hundred Mile Club". Additionally, special charms are earned for birthdays, losing a tooth, participating in local 5Ks, and showing exceptional Loma Portal Dolphin spirit.

Run for Life will start Monday, August 28, 2023, and continue daily throughout the school year, from 8:00 AM to 8:15 AM on the blacktop, weather permitting.

Please do not send your child to school earlier, as there is no supervision. STUDENTS MAY BE ASKED TO CEASE THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM IF THEY SHOW UP BEFORE 8:00 AM.
Parents are encouraged to join the students on the track each morning to assist in providing motivation and a positive environment for the students, and to get in your own laps!

Please complete this consent form for each student participant.
