Join the Loma Portal Golf Cart Parade Crew!
We’re excited to roll through the OB Holiday Parade with up to 10 decorated golf carts, and we’d love for your family to be part of the fun! The parade route is a short ¾ mile cruise, perfect for waving to spectators, showing off your school spirit, and adding your own creative flair.
Decorate your cart any way you like, and feel free to go big with lights, streamers, or festive touches. We’re especially hoping for a trail of bubbles behind every cart — if you have a battery-powered bubble machine, bring it along! If not, the Foundation will happily provide one.
Spots are limited, so register soon to reserve your cart in the lineup!
Walk With Us in the OB Holiday Parade!
Join the Loma Portal crew on foot as we make a splash in the OB Holiday Parade! Families, students, and staff are all invited to walk the ¾-mile route, wave to the crowd, and help show off our school spirit.
Dress in LPE logowear, bright colors, holiday flair, or anything fun and family-friendly. Kids can walk, or be pushed in strollers (please, no bikes or skateboards). The Foundation will provide bubbles for our group so we can float a little magic down Newport Ave.
All walkers should register so we can keep our lineup organized. We can’t wait to parade together!
Parade FAQs
-
Because it’s fun. Because community matters. Because nothing says “Loma Portal spirit” like rolling down Newport Ave together in a holiday parade. Also… why wouldn’t we?
-
Nope! The Foundation is covering parade fees and some supplies. You’re welcome to buy decorations for your golf cart or snag some new Loma Portal logowear (and look fabulous doing it), but that’s completely optional.
-
YES! Bring your babies, tweens, teens, grandparents, cousins, the uncle who tells the same story every Thanksgiving… if they’re part of your Loma Portal family, we want them there. Just include everyone when you register.
-
Technically yes — parade organizers allow pups. However, please think carefully. It’s loud, crowded, chaotic, kid-filled, and unpredictable. If that will overwhelm your dog, please leave them home to live their best nap life. If your pup thrives on chaos and loves random children… bring Fido. Safety first, cute photos second.

About ¾ mile. We start at Newport & Sunset Cliffs, walk toward the ocean, turn on Abbott, cruise to Santa Monica, and end at Santa Monica & Cable.
Reminder: you still need to get back to your starting point after — unless you’re one of the lucky ones golf carting your way back in style.Bonus: Walkers tell Miss Leslie, or any Run for Life helper on Monday, Dec 8, that you walked in the parade, and your ¾ mile will get added to your Run 4 Life total!

YOU — or someone you designate. The Foundation does not assign drivers, babysit drivers, or manage driver energy levels. Whoever registers the cart is responsible for its safe operation at all times.

LPE logowear! Jog-A-Thon shirts! Festive holiday outfits!
We’ll also have custom parade merch available soon. The goal: look amazing and unified while making spectators wonder how our school is this magical. -
Bummer, we can’t stand when we misplace stuff either; hope it was labeled!
If not, check Lost & Found… and then consider supporting our Loma Portal x Mabel’s Labels fundraiser so items can be returned to you when they are inevitably left behind.
Need to replace a hoodie or buy more? Visit our logowear shop or keep an eye out for campus pop-ups. -
Great question! As a public school, Loma Portal proudly creates an inclusive environment for all students and families — which means keeping our float fun, festive, and welcoming without leaning into any specific holiday or religious imagery. That’s why we’re rolling with our “I Brake for Bubbles” and bubble-blowing theme instead of Santa, sleighs, menorahs, reindeer, dreidels, or anything else holiday or religion specific.
You are welcome to dress in alignment with your holiday traditions. You can decorate your golf cart with a holiday theme. We encourage everyone to be extra fun and bring their holiday cheer!
The Foundation and school sponsored portions of our float will remain holiday-neutral, including Bubbles.
-
You’ll hear very little until after Thanksgiving Break. Then—boom—parade info will come quickly because the event is the very next weekend. It’ll be fine. We’re all doing great.

Our incredible VP, Robin Creighton, will serve as Float Marshall. She’s attending the Zoom training to learn all the important things for us.

Probably a lot. But who can remember?
If you have questions, email lomaportal.school@gmail.com or lomaportal.vp@gmail.com, message us on Konstella, or text/call if you have our numbers. Someone will respond… eventually. With love.
